August 15th, 2007 Bibby Still a Possibility?

According to league sources. the Kings have not ruled out trading Mike Bibby. If Bibby is traded, the Heat are viewed as potential trade partners. The trade would include Jason Williams going to Sacramento and Bibby going to Miami. The deal could include Shareef Abdur-Rahim orKenny Thomas as well. Whether or not Udonis Haslem will be included is still uncertain.

My Take: I hope we can get Bibby to hold down the point Guard position. Jason Williams is getting older and is very prone to injury and signing Smush Parker was not the answer Heat fans were hoping for, I hope we dont have to trade Haslem but if it means Bibby will come to Miami, I think it’s worth it.

August 15th, 2007 Riley Will Be Back

After an off-season full of uncertainty about who will coach the team, Pat Riley has come out publicly saying that he will return for three more years. Who will join Riley in returning to Miami is still uncertain as Riley has mentioned that he is uncertain if James Posey will be returning to the Heat but at least one thing is certain, that Riley will be back again.

My Take: This is great news, with all the uncertainties surrounding this team, its great that we dont have to worry about getting another coach, Riley should keep us in the play-offs for at least two ifnot all three of those years and will continue to be one of the league’s best motivators.

August 15th, 2007 Heat Free Agent Signings

The Heat have had some problems getting some players to join the team this off-season but have recently reeled in a few guys to help the team make another play-off run. After big names like Ron Artest, Mo Williams, and Mike Bibby were rumored to be coming to Miami, these signings seem minor but they could make a big difference.

First, the Heat signed Point Guard Smush Parker who played for the Lakers last season. Smush is not a spectacular Point Guard, but can help the Heat with their problem scoring. He won’t have to handle the ball too much with Williams and Wade still in town but he will be a big contributor at the beginning of the season when Wade is out and whenever the heat have injuries.

The second signing was a bit of a surprise. The Heat signed one of Shaq’s former teammates and former star Anfernee Hardaway. The Heat are trying to replace Eddie Jones who signed with Dallas, Jason Kapono who went to Toronto, and James Posey who has still not reached an agreement with Miami. Apparently, Shaq and Penny have put the past behind them and are getting along again but I still have my doubts, one must wonder if Penny still has anything left to offer, sure he has worked hard to get back into the league but now that he’s back will he continue to work hard on his game? He could be a solid pick-up or a bust depending on his work ethic.
